Banners were used initially by the church during processions inside or outside the church building. Soon, they found applications in military and protests. Trade unions dramatized their use. They used banners with iconography reflecting their hopes and aspirations during May Day parades
The legacy today is carried on by the advertising banners. Produced on large scale they are used by traders to create public awareness about their policies. Standard 10-11 oz. Cut vinyl banners are the all-around favorite of sign makers. Each custom banner comes with brass grommets placed in all four corners and every two feet in between, across the top and bottom. All custom banners have a long life, are reusable, and provide outdoor protection against wind pressure and also can be used indoors. For maximum durability, the 13 oz. banner that is actually stronger than canvas with its reinforced triple strength inner core polyester fiber is used.
Easy to install, each vinyl banner has a seamed tunnel at both the top and bottom of entire banner length so that one can install by pulling through on rope across the tunnel. Vinyl lettering has almost completely replaced sign painting because of its durability. Vinyl letters have been tested against fading and peeling for years. Generally two kinds of materials are used. The most common is 3-5 year vinyl which will perform well under most circumstances. If your work demands greater durability, choose the more expensive 8 year vinyl (recommended for glass storefronts, boats and vehicle lettering). Once installed no extra care is needed.
Vinyl letters work well on most any smooth non-porous surface. Glass, vehicles, fiberglass, painted wood, plastic and painted metal are all excellent surfaces for pre-spaced vinyl letters. Each line of text or even individual letters can be different colors. One can even specify shadows, outlines and other effects - there is no limit to the number of colors that can be combined to produce eye-catching effects. Each color is supplied on its own backing sheet to be applied separately. Starting with the background color and aligning each layer with the previous layer. Under normal circumstances, size of letters is not a problem. One simply has to give the overall size of the sign area and fitting the lettering to the area that is done by the manufacturer. Normally, the letters go on the outside of the glass to maintain visibility even when there is glare on the window. If one prefers the lettering go on the inside to be read outside, specifications that the letters are to be mirror cut are to be given. Solid vinyl is available in limited colors only, therefore matching pantone process colors cannot be guaranteed. Removing the vinyl lettering is not an easy process, but one can peel off when the size is no longer needed. As for the remaining glue it can be removed using any citrus based glue remover.
