The horizontal banners are banners that stretch in length from left to right. The horizontal banners are made to make publicity of anything. The horizontal banners are displayed normally by tying two ends to the poles erected on both sides of a rod and even between the branches of trees on both sides.

However, the horizontal banners are displayed, the purpose is publicity. The horizontal banners are preferred on roads above the height of vehicles passing through. The idea of displaying the horizontal banners on roads is that all the people passing through in vehicles on the roads will have direct access on the banner and the message of the banner is easily conveyed to all of them.

The horizontal banners are also used in some of the functions by displaying the banner on the back side of the people on dais in a function hall. Some times, the horizontal banner is also displayed outside a function hall about the function held.

At the same time, the horizontal banner is also used during rallies and demonstrations conducted by various sections of the people. The horizontal banner displayed during such rallies and demonstrations may be both in protest of certain actions and inviting public attention for a common social cause.

The horizontal banner is also used by the groups participating in collective games, sports, etc. like Inter-college games, National games, etc. In inter-college games, the participants from each college will be holding the horizontal banner while in National games, the horizontal banner is used by the groups representing different States.

In case of Olympics and Asian games, the horizontal banners are used by the groups separately representing different countries.
