Service Banners
Service Banners
Service banner is entirely a different type of banner made for display. But, this banner has an exception in using it. The service banner is not a banner
made for publicity or as an advertisement. This banner is made and displayed only to show about the service.
The service banner will not have any matter. The service banner will consist of only a Star and nothing else. The service banner relates to the military service by the people. The service banner is made for display only in the houses.
The service banner will be in the form of a small flag and is displayed in the houses. Display of service star banner first came about during the World War I.. During the World Wars I and II, most service banners in the form of small flags were hand made by mothers across the nation.
As said earlier, the service banner in the form of a small flag with star is displayed in the houses to indicate that a member of the house is in the military service. There may be one or more service star banners displayed in the houses depending on the number of members in service.
Each blue star on the small flag like banner represents a service member in active duty. A gold star service banner is displayed if a service member is killed in action or dies in service. If several service star banners are displayed in one family, the service banner of gold star takes the honor of being placed at the top.
Display of a service banner is done during times of war. Once again families are displaying service banners at home. Service banners may be purchased or made by hand.
A service star flag is much larger and can be flown on a regular flag pole.
